What happens when I call Addiction Care?
Call 323-300-2966 for help exploring independent drug and alcohol treatment options using private insurance or self-pay. A representative may ask about your location, treatment needs, and payment preferences. A referral is not a guarantee of admission, insurance coverage, or a particular treatment outcome.
What a Treatment Referral Service Can Do
A treatment referral service can help a caller organize a search, identify independent providers that may fit stated needs, and connect the caller with a provider for direct discussion. It does not replace a clinical assessment, make a diagnosis, provide medical treatment, guarantee admission, or determine what an insurance plan will pay.
If someone may be in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health or suicide crisis, call or text 988.
Information You May Be Asked to Provide
To narrow the search, a representative may ask about the person’s age, general location, substance-use concerns, desired level of care, timing, transportation, private insurance, and ability to self-pay. The caller may also be asked whether there are urgent medical, withdrawal, or mental health concerns that should be addressed by qualified professionals.
Before sharing personal or insurance information, ask who is receiving it, why it is needed, whether the call is handled by a third party, and how the information may be shared with treatment providers. Do not send payment or sensitive records until you understand which organization will receive them.
What Happens After a Possible Match
A referral is an introduction, not an admission decision. The independent treatment provider should explain its assessment process, licensing, services, staff, availability, program rules, privacy practices, and payment terms. The provider may need clinical and financial information before deciding whether its services are appropriate.
Ask for the provider’s legal name, website, phone number, and exact service address. Write down the name of each person you speak with and keep copies of benefit checks, estimates, consent forms, and payment agreements.
Verify the Provider Independently
Confirm the facility’s license with the relevant state agency and verify that the exact address is authorized for the proposed service. Check whether medical services are available on site, how emergencies are handled, and whether individual clinicians, laboratories, pharmacies, transportation companies, or other vendors may bill separately.
The federal FindTreatment.gov directory can supplement your research. A directory listing or referral does not establish current availability, clinical fit, licensing status, network participation, or quality, so confirm those details directly.
Private Insurance and Self-Pay Checks
If using private insurance, call the member-services number on the insurance card. Confirm the facility and clinicians’ network status, prior authorization, deductible, copays, coinsurance, exclusions, and review requirements. A verification of benefits is not a guarantee of final payment.
If paying directly, request an itemized written estimate. Ask about deposits, daily or weekly rates, medications, laboratory services, transportation, professional fees, cancellation rules, refunds, and charges that may change if the level or length of care changes. Our insurance and self-pay guide provides a longer checklist.

How Addiction Care Handles Referrals
Addiction Care is an independent advertising and referral information service, not a treatment provider. Calls may be answered by a third-party contracted call center that can discuss independent options. Read the site’s advertising and referral disclaimer for additional information.
Call 323-300-2966 or use the contact page to explore options. Private insurance and self-pay inquiries are welcome. The decision to contact, evaluate, or enter a program remains with the caller and the independent provider.
